All About Latte
Welcome to All About Latte!
The place where you can find out all there is to know about the French Bulldog with more personality than a bride at her bachelor party, or a first grader after round three of halloween candy.
Once you meet Latte, you'll understand that Latte is more than just another Frenchie: Latte is a way of life.
So who is this 22-pound ball of puff?
Latte was born in Germany on December 29, 2015. She then move to South Korea in 2017. After spending time in Europe and Asia, she decided to become an American citizen. In February 2019, she moved to St. Louis where she has been ever since.
She loves to play and needs lots of attention. She makes all kinds of funny noises and her facial expressions are the best. She will not bite, even if you put your hand in her mouth; not aggressive at all. Overall, Latte is a great, easy dog.
Feeding Latte
Latte gets one purple cup in the morning and one in the evening, after potty time. She knows must poop before getting anything to eat. This is decrease the chances of her throwing up. If you have a hard time getting her to poop, try walking her a little and tell her to "go poop" or "go potty".
If she poops in the middle of the day, she can have about a half of the purple cup.
Playing with Latte
Latte has two favorite games: fetch and tug-of-war. She will likely bring you a toy to play.
If you tell her to "let go" or "let me see it", she will after saying it a time or two. For fun, you could also tell her to "roll over". She will either roll over or spin in a circle. She also knows "go get me a toy" and "play?" which she can assume you want to play. She will very likely destroy her toys; that is totally ok, as you can see.
Latte Bedtime
Latte likes sleeping in her kennel. If you'd like, she will not be upset if you put her in bed with you on her blanket. She will curl up and sleep until you move her out. We put her in bed with us for a short time, then she sleeps in her kennel. If you want to leave her in bed with you, that is ok too. She doesn't expect that, but it is an option.
She will very likely make monstrous noises, snore, or both. Enjoy the soundtrack.
Potty
We let her out multiple times a day. Tell her “go potty” or “go poop” a few times to speed up the process as needed. You might have to wipe her butt after a poo because she’s a white dog and it is sometimes messy. She’s pretty good at telling you if she needs to go out. It’s common that she’ll want to go out again around 8:30-9PM. She has never made a mess in the house.
Other Notes
Latte knows her name. She knows all the basics: sit, stay/wait, no, stop, out, off, down, come, eat. You might have to repeat a couple times, but she’s generally cooperative.
Feel free to take her on as many walks as you would like. She can do about a mile before she's tired, especially in the afternoon heat.
Sick Latte
Sometimes, Latte decides she doesn't want to poop and makes herself sick. Here are some guidelines in case this happens.
The sign that she will throw up is very obvious: she will start smacking her lips as if she were trying to swallow. It will get more intense, and she will usually start to stand up. At that point, we strongly suggest picking her up and moving to a hard floor, or outside if you can.
In most cases, she is actually very good about telling you that she is going to puke, and knows that she can go outside to throw up. She'll move quickly if you do.
We give her half a pill of generic Pepto in the pink bottle crushed up to a powder with just a little food; about a third of the purple cup. She knows it helps her and will usually eat it right up. If she doesn't eat right away, leave the food out and she'll eat when she's ready.
Her belly will start making odd noises that indicates she needs to poop. It sounds like her stomach is growling from hunger, or an alien is trying to come out. If you take her out and she poops, great. Give her about a third of the purple cup of food with crushed up Pepto on top. If she doesn't eat it, no problem - she'll come back when she's ready.
